What is LASIK eye surgery?
LASIK, which stands for Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, is the most popular form of laser eye surgery. LASIK corrects nearsighted, farsighted, and astigmatism to eliminate your need for glasses or contact lenses for clear vision.
Before the procedure starts, we will give you eye drops to numb the eyes, making the procedure relatively painless. The procedure is a two step process: first a flap is created on the front of the cornea, then a laser is used to gently reshape the cornea underneath the flap to correct your vision. The entire procedure takes 15 minutes, and most patients can resume their normal activities (including driving) the next day.
Dr. Ennen was the first ophthalmologist to perform LASIK corrective surgery in Fort Smith providing patients unparalleled expertise. He combines his expertise with the most advanced technology. Ennen Eye Center was the first to offer blade-free Intralase locally and the first in Arkansas to offer iDesign CustomVue LASIK treatments.
Financing is available with approved credit through CareCredit. If you would like to see if you are good candidate for LASIK, contact us for a free screening.
What is PRK?
PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) was the original refractive surgery procedure to re-shape the cornea. PRK has the same great results as LASIK, but with a longer recovery time. At Ennen Eye Center, we offer PRK as an option for patients that desire laser vision correction and need a different treatment than LASIK. Dr. Ennen will help determine the best treatment for your eyes.
